The difference between needle punched geotextile and meltblown textile

Needle-punched geotextiles and melt-blown fabrics are both non-woven fabrics and can also be called spunbonded non-woven fabrics. The main difference of two products is in the production process and the main applications.

Production Process:

1. Needle-punched geotextiles, needle-punched geotextiles are divided into continuous filament needle punched geotextile and staple fiber needle-punched geotextiles.

  • In the production process of continuous filament needled geotextile, the polymer is melted by the extruder and woven into a continuous fiber bundle through a series of spinnerets. Then by spinning the spinneret or manipulating the cyclone, changing the speed of the conveyor belt, passing current, etc., the fibers are irregularly ordered, and the fiber web is laid on the conveyor belt, and then the structure is reinforced with a needling device to produce a continuous and uniform geotextile.

  • The production process of staple fiber needle punched geotextiles. The staple fibers pass through the carding machine to form a net surface prototype. After passing through the mess machine, the scrambled mesh surface is formed. Then, the fibers are entangled with each other by one or more needling machines and extruded into Together, staple fiber needled punched geotextile is formed.

2. Meltblown textile, melt-blown non-woven process uses high-speed hot air to draw a thin stream of polymer melt extruded from the spinneret of the die, thereby forming ultrafine fibers and condensing on the curtain net, Rely on self-adhesion to become a nonwoven.

Comparison of needle punched geotextile and meltblown cloth:

The uniformity of the fiber diameter in the needle punched geotextile web is significantly better than that of the meltblown fiber. In the needle punched geotextile process, the spinning process conditions are stable, and the fluctuations in drafting and cooling conditions are relatively small.

One of the characteristics of meltblown nonwovens is that the fiber fineness is small, usually less than 10 μm, and most of the fiber fineness is 1 to 4 μm. Various forces cannot be balanced on the entire spinning line from the spinneret of the meltblown die to the receiving device (the effects of high-temperature and high-speed airflow fluctuation of the tensile force, the speed and temperature of the cooling air, etc.), so that meltblown fibers Fineness varies.

Fiber strength:

The strength of geotextile cloth is greater than that of meltblown cloth.

Fiber fineness:

Meltblown fibers are thinner than geotextile fibers.

Applications

Needle punched nonwoven geotextile

Widely used in geotechnical engineering such as water conservancy, electricity, mines, roads and railways:

1. Filter material for soil separation;

2. Drainage materials for the beneficiation of reservoirs and mines, drainage materials for the foundations of high-rise buildings;

3. Anti-scouring materials for river dykes and slope protection;

4. Reinforcing materials for railways, highways, and airport running road foundations, and road-reinforcing materials for swamps;

5. Anti-frost and anti-freeze insulation materials;

6. Anti-cracking material for asphalt pavement.

Meltblown textilee

1. Filtration material. Filtration is to separate particulate matter dispersed in gas or liquid. Filtration mechanism: sieve filtration deposition, electrostatic deposition, diffusion deposition, etc.

2. Medical and health materials, medical masks: Spunbonded materials on the inside and outside, and composite materials (SMS) made of meltblown materials in the middle.

3. Environmental protection materials (oil absorbing materials) Polypropylene meltblown nonwovens have become good oil absorbing materials because of their material characteristics and microfiber structure. They have been widely used in developed countries, such as oil spills at sea and oil leaks from factory equipment. And sewage treatment.

4. Clothing materials (heat-preserving materials) The heat-preserving materials should have good thermal insulation properties and can be used for a long time without changing their thermal insulation properties.

5. Battery separator The separator material is an important component of the battery. It is often placed between the positive and negative plates. Its main function is to insulate the positive and negative plates to ensure the flow of the dielectric. Polypropylene material has excellent acid and alkali resistance. Polypropylene meltblown diaphragm material has the characteristics of small pore size, large porosity, low resistance, and various product changes.
